PHILS FARKELS

General information about trunks that have been mounted on my rack, mounting methods, pro's and con's.

  • COOCASE

Requires a universal mounting plate (included with the case)  T-Nuts (*) simplify mounting.  Trunk position is adjustable.

  • GIVI MonoLOCK

Requires a universal mounting plate (sold separately).  T-Nuts (*) simplify mounting.  Trunk position is adjustable.

  • GIVI MonoKEY

Mounts directly to my rack using the SW-Motech Kit; however, the position of the rack is fixed.  Accessory backrest pad available from dealers.

  • E55 Maxia: (MonoKEY)

If used with the auxillary LED light kit, must be hard wired with a quick disconnect as the socket will not fit my rack.  Can be mounted with the SW-Motech kit.

The position of the rack is fixed.  NOTE: this is a LARGE trunk and may crowd all but the smallest passenger.

  • GIVI SR410 kit

This kit reinforces the stock rack, and precludes the use of my rack.  Sold separately.  Appears to be very strong; however, installation requires some disassembly

of body work.  Trunk position is not adjustable.

  • Kawasaki Large/Small

Starting in 2015 or 2016 OEM trunks changed to MonoKEY.  Inquire if you are not sure which you have.

Backrest available as an option from your dealer.

  • SHAD-50L

T-nuts (*) simplify mounting.  Trunk position is adjustable.  Backrest included with the trunk.

  • SHAD 42 & 46L

Comes with a 2 piece universal mounting plate.  T-Nuts (*) simplify mounting.  Trunk position is adjustable.  Comes with backrest.

  • JC Whitney/Sears:

Can be mounted directly to the rack using the SW-Motech kit; however it's not designed for that and may not fit due to variations between trunks.

  • ( * ) T-NUTS  These are needed ONLY to attach a trunk universal mounting plates to my rack. (IE: Givi MonoLOCK, older Kawasaki brand, Shad, or ANY trunk other than Givi MonoKEY)  The T-nuts simplify mounting, they drop through the slots, turn 90 degrees, pull up into the slot and tighten without the need for a wrench underneath the rack.  It's almost impossible to fit a wrench under the front half of the rack!
